Bioma-ORX®️
Bioma-ORX®️ is a PFAS-free, water-based oil and grease barrier technology developed for food packaging applications. It is designed to reduce oil migration on paper and paperboard surfaces, enhance packaging performance, and provide a more sustainable alternative to plastic, silicone, or fluorochemical-based barrier solutions.
In today’s food packaging industry, not only barrier performance but also food contact safety, recyclability, PFAS-free structure, and reduction of plastic usage have become critical requirements. Bioma-ORX®️ is positioned as a next-generation paper-based barrier solution that responds to this transformation.
Product performance can be adjusted depending on the base paper, grammage, and coating amount used. This allows Bioma-ORX®️ to provide different oil barrier levels from KIT 4 to KIT 12, making it adaptable for a wide range of applications, from light grease-contact packaging to butter and heavily oily products.
Developed for Next-Generation Food Packaging
Traditional grease barrier solutions often rely on PFAS, plastic films, silicone, or synthetic layers that make recycling more difficult. While these structures may provide short-term functional performance, they create limitations in terms of environmental impact, regulatory risks, and recyclability in the long term.
Bioma-ORX®️ is a flexible barrier platform that enhances the functional performance of paper-based packaging while supporting sustainability goals.
Structure
ADJUSTABLE BARRIER PERFORMANCE
Bioma-ORX®️ is not a single fixed product, but a barrier technology that can be configured for different applications. The barrier level can be optimized according to the base paper, grammage, coating amount, and end-use requirements.
Food Contact Compliance and Safety
According to the food contact compliance declaration prepared for Bioma-ORX®️, the product has been developed for paper coating applications intended for direct food contact. The declaration states that the product is a water-based functional coating specifically designed to improve grease resistance in folding carton and corrugated packaging applications.
The product has been evaluated in accordance with the following regulatory frameworks:

Turkish Food Codex – Paper-Based Food Contact Materials
Third-party analyses conducted by Intertek Istanbul detected no migration of heavy metals such as arsenic, lead, cadmium, or mercury. In addition, the results for formaldehyde, PCP, PCB, and chloride parameters were reported as “not detected,” confirming overall food contact safety.
The Bioma-ORX®️ declaration also states that the coating formulation does not contain PFOS, PFOA, or other perfluorinated compounds, that these substances are not intentionally added, and that they are not generated during production. The same declaration also confirms that the product is free from MOSH / MOAH.
Typical Application Areas
Bioma-ORX®️ can be adapted to different food packaging applications. By selecting the appropriate base paper, grammage, and barrier level, it can be used in the following areas:

According to the TDS document, the product can be manufactured in different grammages ranging from 30–400 g/m², supplied in roll or sheet form, and customized with different base paper types depending on customer requirements.

Technical Flexibility and Supply
Bioma-ORX®️ can be customized for different production and packaging requirements. The base paper type, grammage, dimensions, coating amount and target barrier level can be defined according to the customer’s application.
The product can be evaluated on MF, MG or different paper/board surfaces. It can be supplied in reel or sheet form. Storage in a dry and cool environment is recommended, protected from sunlight, high temperature and humidity changes. The TDS specifies the recommended storage temperature as 20–25°C and the recommended shelf life as 12 months.
